Somehow, and we may never fully understand how exactly, this works just fine. Not all electrical poles are as decorated as this one -- it's so popular a photo subject, it could have its own postcard. On occasion, I've seen the electric guys up there working, doing God knows what. I always kind of hold my breath when I see it. I mean, that's a lot of electricity right?
On my photo stroll today I also saw this building, which I've no doubt walked past hundreds of times:
